Learn some of the ragas and characteristic phrases to be performed in the 7:30 pm concert
Learn a song that will be performed in the concert
Learn to identify some of the intricate rhythms you will hear in the mridangam drum during the concert
A demonstration of how RK Shriramkumar translates vocal music onto the violin
Open to ALL instrumentalists, vocalists and music lovers at CU and beyond
7:30 - 9 pm CONCERT in Old Main, CU Boulder
The concert will begin with a brief talk about the life of Smt. M.S. Subbalakshmi http://www.msstribute.org
The concert program will include ragas and rhythms covered in the interactive 4:30-6:00 pm workshop.

RK Shriramkumar is a top ranking Violin artist from India. He belongs to the Rudrapatnam family of musicians, a family with a glorious musical
tradition. He is the grandson of the renowned violinist Sangeetha Kalaratna R. K. Venkatarama Shastry, with whom he had advanced training. He has
performed all over the world with legends of Carnatic music including M. S. Subbulakshmi, Semmangudi R. Srinivasa Iyer, D. K. Pattammal and
Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna. He has received the title of Yuva Kala Bharathi from Bharat Kalachar and the Kalki Krishnamurthy Memorial award. He is the
first ever instrumentalist to be conferred the prestigious “Isai Peroli” title (2009).
Jayaraman Vaidhyanathan, hails from a family of Great Musicians. He is the son of legendry musician Sangita Kalanidhi D.K.Jayaraman and nephew
of Padmavibhushan Sangita Kalanidhi Mrs..D.K.Pattammal. He is the disciple of Sangita Kalanidhi Maestro Dr.T.K.Murthy. He has accompanied the
legendary Bharat Ratna Smt. M.S.Subbulakshmi and many other great stalwarts. He has travelled widely in India and abroad. He is the
youngest Mridangamist awarded the prestigious Kalaimamani award from the Government of Tamilnadu State in 2006.
