The purpose of this letter is to address my interest in the Junior Web Developer position
recently posted through your company website. I’m a recent honors graduate of Vancouver Film
School’s Programming for Games, Web and Mobile program where I was awarded the Best
Web Application award. Now I’m seeking my first professional opportunity as a software
developer, and firmly believe a position at S
​ peed Shift Media ​would be an incredible
opportunity to showcase my skills as a developer, and further hone them by working on the next
generation of your platform.
My love for full-stack web development has me constantly hungry for picking up new
languages, and libraries. From languages such as JavaScript, PHP, Python, Java and C# to
libraries such as jQuery, AngularJS, Node.js, CodeIgniter, Django, Bootstrap and Google Cloud
Platform, to database platforms like MySQL - I’m always prepared to learn something new.
I’m a strong believer in well-architected, REST-compliant object-oriented codebases,
using version control systems such as Git, and designing dynamic web applications that are
responsive by nature with interfaces to easily handle mobile-hybrid integration with Android, and
iOS. Additionally, I am comfortable using either Windows, OS X or Linux for my primary
development environment.
As a self-driven, detail oriented individual, I strongly believe in forging the bridge
between data-driven design principles, and cutting-edge technology to craft unique experiences
for the end user. I’ve worked alongside project managers and designers in fast-paced, highly
Agile environments where rapid prototyping and design thinking principles were heavily
encouraged, and independently, where I’ve had a high level of ownership over my work across
multiple projects simultaneously.
