ARCHITECTURE PORTFOLIO
HARRY J A REYNOLDS

SAFFRON WALDEN
During this project we studied
our home town of Saffron
Walden. We were tasked with
creating a pastiche using
images we had collected of the
town. The top two pieces are
paintingS and the bottom two
are oil pastels. The image to
the right is a building located in
China. It was originally painted
by Edward Bawden, but this is
my recreation of it.

TOUR DE FRANCE
DESIGN IDEAS
These are my design ideas for a project
I did on the Tour De France. I tasked
myself to design and create a poster
that advertised the 2017 Tour De
France. I wanted to display the designs
in a way that repented the style of the
Tour, with the use of yellow colouring
and evenly spaced items.

BLACK AND WHITE
STUDIES
These are my experiments
for the beginning of the Tour
De France Project. It shows
a wide range of styles that
use different medias and
techniques. My preference
style is precise and detailed,
but I wanted to experiment
with faster paced drawings
that displayed a looser style.

COLOUR STUDIES
These are my colour studies
for the Tour De France. I
wanted to experience with
mixed media on large scale
so I created the image on
the right. It started off as a
pencil outline but soon
developed into a painting
that included marker pens for
smaller details.

EXPERIMENTING
MOTION
This is my interpretation of
an object moving quickly. I
wanted to show the direction
and motion of the cyclist and
I felt this was best displayed
with the use of chalk and
paint.
The
white
paint
highlights the rider and bike.
The chalk extends the colour
and gradually blends out.
This creates a sense of
speed, direction and motion.

Tour De France Painting
This is my final piece for the
Tour De France Project. The
image was originally created
on Photoshop, where I
edited in an image of the
leading cyclist among an
already excising group of
cyclists. This version is a
painting that also uses
marker pens for smaller,
more intricate details.

ETCHING –
SAFFRON WALDEN
During my first year of Art
and Design we visited a
professional print studio.
Prior to the event I had
created an etching of a
building in Saffron Walden.
The style was sketchy and
fast, using only key objects
in the image.

FINAL DESIGN
PAGE – UNDER
TENSION
Using a free hand approach I
illustrated the designs for a
3D model using biro pens.
The model itself would
represent
tension
and
balance. I like the final
representation of the page
as it is organised and shows
the development and stages
of the design.
