“MOVEMENT TO PROMOTE
WRITING READINESS”
10:00am 11:30am
Discover why the foundations of good pencil control
need to be established long before a child first tries to
write. This session explains why successful pencil
control needs more than a good tripod grip. The
foundations are laid with the acquisition of core
stability, bilateral coordination, visual tracking and
gross and fine motor skills. Come and try hands
on, fun, practical activities with easily available
resources that will help your children become
writing ready.
“THE CHILD’S JOURNEY AN INTRODUCTION TO OBSERVATION,
ASSESSMENT AND PLANNING”
11:45am 1:15pm
By the end of this session practitioners will begin to
understand the importance of observation and how
it links to assessment and planning. Practitioners will
learn about different methods of observation,
discuss good practice during observation and
practice the skills of observation through video clips.
1:30pm
This session will ignite practitioners’ joy of
meaningful play in the early years. The session will
help you to plan interactive activities as well as
create purposeful environments to promote all areas
of development.

“MARVELOUS MESS”
10:00am 11:30am
This session will allow practitioners to find out the
importance of messy play and discover how it links
to the EYFS. It will also provide you with a range of
messy play ideas and recipes to use in your setting.
“GETTING IT RIGHT FOR BOYS”
11:45am 1:15pm
Evidence shows us that boys are underachieving in
school. This session will look at the way we see boys
and how the stereotypes we hold have an impact on
them in relation to their learning and behaviour. An
understanding of biological differences between
boys and girls helps us to support and plan activities
that can engage boys within the setting.
“STORYTELLING THROUGH DRAMA”
1:30pm
3:00pm
This session will help you to refine your skills as a
storyteller through creative expression and active
engagement of children. Make pages of a storybook
come alive through the use of exciting props and
effective strategies.
