WCS Board of Education accepted the Teacher
requested Fact Finder’s Financial Proposal on April 17,
2017. However, the WEA (Teachers Union) still refuse to
accept this recommendation!
Although the WEA requested Fact Finding, there is still no acceptance of the Fact Finder’s
Recommendation. At a negotiations meeting held on Monday, April 24th the teachers refused to
accept the Fact Finder’s Recommendation. At this point, the WEA did not want to schedule another
negotiations session.
The teachers at Waverly Community Schools are currently the highest paid teachers in all of Mid-‐
Michigan. With the addition of the offer listed below, the teachers assure themselves to be the
highest paid for the next three years.
These are the financial highlights of the Fact Finders offer that was accepted by the Waverly
Community School’s Board of Education eleven days ago:
1. A four-‐year contract
2. $2000 signing bonus for all teachers
3. ½ step increase annually for all teachers on steps
4. The full allowable State Insurance Cap
5. An academic achievement bonus (if earned) of $2000/year for all teachers
6. A safe harbor provision for teachers of $1,500 or ½ step (depending on which applies) during the
fourth year if they did not earn the Academic Achievement Bonus during the three previous years
of the contract.
The Board of Education remains committed to the successful resolution of this collective bargaining
agreement. Media inquiries should be addressed to Waverly Community Schools at 517-‐319-‐3040.
