Official Rules and Regulations
1.

Consent to Rules: All contestants are expected to obey all rules, hold the Taylors Falls Fire
Department harmless for accidents, occurrences, or actions of contestants before, during, or after
the contest, and abide by all the judges decisions. Submittal of an application constitutes agreement to
this language. Failure to obey rules will result in disqualification

2.

Pre-Tournament Practice: Anytime up to 5:00pm Saturday, July 22, 2017

3.

Safety: All contestants must observe U.S. Coast Guard and Minnesota boating regulations. A 15 mph
Speed limit is encouraged during evening hours

4.

Sportsmanship: Contestants are expected to be courteous, safety conscious, and practice
fundamental sporting practices

5.

Tackle: Artificial and live baits may be used with a maximum of 2 lines per person

6.

Fishing Area: The St. Croix River from the NSP dam north to Old Nevers dam site

7.

Fishing Hours: 7:30pm Saturday, July 22, 2017 to 7:30am Sunday, July 23, 2017.
A siren will sound the contest start.

8.

Teams: Contestants must enter as 2 person teams only. Only 2 people may be in a boat (1 team)

9.

Scoring: Only catfish species over twelve (12) inches long will be weighed. Prizes are awarded based on
total team weight up to legal limits. NO DEAD FISH WILL BE WEIGHED.

Weigh-in: Weigh-in begins at 7:30am in the Lions Park. Fish will be accepted by the judges from
7:30am to 8:00am. NO FISH WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 8:00AM. All fish to be weighed must
have weigh-in card (handed out at starting points)

Interpretation: Interpretation of the rules is left exclusively to the judges. All decisions of the judges
will be final.

Camping: No camping on the Wisconsin side of the river is allowed.

13.

Inspection: All boats may be inspected before and during the contest.

14.

Entries: The first 65 paid teams will fish. All entries will be notified if they are accepted.

15.

Contest Day Registration: Contestants must register at the Lions Park on county road 16, from 5:00pm
to 8:00pm on Saturday. You must declare your starting point at this time. You may start at the Lions
Park or Rivards Farm. You must be present at 7:20pm at your starting point to receive weigh-in card.

16.

No 2 boats may be tied together during contest hours.
