Application Engineer (PDF)

Enables adoption of Synopsys's Product solutions, by worldwide customers. Provides
technical application support to customers and internal Synopsys teams, to solve complex
technical issues, faced during the development of ASICs in leading edge technologies. Responds
to situations to isolate or fix problems or suggest appropriate workarounds to meet critical design
schedules. Provides feedback about the tools and methodologies to product engineering (CAEs)
and R&D teams to enhance the quality of Synopsys' solutions. Most often will be involved in
installation at customer sites, project deployment. Travel is required.

Responsible for timely identification and resolution of customer issues.
Proactively contributing and communicating to the corporation in the areas of product
improvement and leveraged support.
Works directly with customers for gaining full understanding of their issues and
successfully driving those issues to create complete customer satisfaction through
independent work or interfacing with other Application Consultants, CAEs or R&D
Engineers.
Accountable for identifying common usage questions and extending the current customer
knowledge base by writing articles for inclusion in the SOLVNET knowledge database.
Works on assignments that are extremely complex in nature where independent action
and high degree of initiative are required in resolving problems and developing
recommendations.
Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may
supervise activities of other non-exempt employees.

Job Requirements:

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering with excellent
knowledge of Digital and Analog concepts, CMOS device fundamentals etc . Knowledge of Verilog,
ASIC design flow is an added advantage.
Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English and Chinese (Mandarin)
with a passion for excellent client service.
Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
that will resolve a customer issue. Receives general instructions on routine work, detailed
instructions on new assignments. Builds productive internal/external working relationships with
customers, colleagues and associates. Can be relied upon to meet or exceed customer
expectations most of the time.
