4.2 Programme requirements:
ABachelor's degree with Honours is normally obtained after 3 years full time study or part time equivalent.
360 credits (180 ECTS) at FHEQ Levels 4, 5 and 6 with at least 240 credits being achieved at FHEQ levels 5 and 6, with a minimum of 120 credits at FHEQ Level 6.
The course aims to produce graduates who develop careers in television, film production, cinema programming, television research, camera and lighting operation, postproduction and related areas. It covers practical video, TV production and post-production techniques, as well as theoretical approaches to film.
In year 1, students take modules in Digital Video Production, Contemporary Industry Practice, The Moving Image, Post Production Art and Technique, and Camera, Lighting
and Sound. Year 2 introduces Documentary Production, Screenwriting, Film Movements, TV Studio Practice and a work placement; year 3 introduces more independent
work and students work on a project or dissertation alongside modules in Experimental Film and Video, Directing Fiction, Genres, as well as Identity and Difference.
Upon completion of the course, the graduates have :
Acritical awareness of theoretical approaches to film.
An in-depth knowledge of key video production and filmic techniques and a systematic and critical understanding of the relationship between practice and theory.
Acomprehensive and critical understanding of film and TV production practice.
The ability to critically analyse and effectively evaluate process and product in relation to video.
