CIVIL AND INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEERING
CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING AND
INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT (CEIM),
prepares students to become effective managers and

decision-makers familiar with the modern techniques of
construction management, engineering management
and infrastructure management. It trains professionals to
play a leading role in the international construction
industry. It molds students to become active leaders in
the infrastructure development and management.
Students may choose to either specialize in Construction
Engineering and Management (CEM) or Infrastructure
Management (IM).

GEOTECHNICAL AND EARTH RESOURCES
ENGINEERING (GTE), beside the traditional topics of

soil mechanics, foundation engineering, earth structures,

DISASTER PREPAREDNESS MITIGATION AND
MANAGEMENT (DPMM), recent intense occurrences of

disasters all over the earth leading to massive loss of life and

destruction of infrastructure have grabbed the attention of the
world. Receiving less attention is disaster risk management the know-how to prepare for such disasters and to reduce
their effects. The academicians and practitioners at AIT, and its
partner institutions are determined to contribute more toward
bringing this know-how to disaster managers and
engineers.The aim of this academic program is to instill the
necessary interdisciplinary capacities to manage and
minimize the effects of disasters in people on the front lines of
disaster response and applicants with engineering, architecture, natural and social science, as well as management
backgrounds.

OFFSHORE TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT (OTM),
for more than three decades, the rapid development of oil and
gas industry is not accompanied with the development of

STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING (STE), has always been

seen as one of the few professions where one can combine
real technical skills with artistic flair. Structural engineers are
known to be people who
enjoy innovation, opportunities, responsibility and
excitement, whilst working
within a creative profession.
Structural engineers plan
and design various structures
such as buildings, bridges,
dams, sport stadiums, towers,
and underground structures. STE offers two areas of specialization, Structural Analysis, Mechanics and Computation, and
Structural Design and Materials.

TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERING (TRE), program

exposes students to the process of alleviating transportation
problems. The coursework and research in the area
provide advanced
knowledge in transportation planning and
ec on om i cs , traffi c
engineering, and the
design of highways /
pavements and other
transportation facilities.
Transportation Engin ee ri n g s tu d en ts
acquire advanced skills concerning the planning, design,
operations, maintenance, rehabilitation, performance, and
evaluation of transportation systems, including their economic
and public policy aspects. TRE offers two areas of specialization, (a) Planning and Engineering and (b) Highways and
Pavements.

WATER ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT (WEM),

underground excavations, land subsidence, and landslide
mitigations, land reclamation, ground improvement,
geosynthetics engineering, analytical and numerical
analyses, geotechnical engineers and researchers are
increasingly involved in many new and dynamic areas of
geoengineering and geoexploration. They are also
challenged to solve geoenvironmental problems, the
reduction of construction wastes, clean-up of contaminated sites, geological-related hazards as well as onshore
and offshore exploration and production of new mineral
and energy resources.The program offers two major areas
of specializations, Geotechnical Engineering (GE) and
Geosystem Exploration & Petroleum Geoengineering
(GEPG).

COMPUTER SCIENCE (CS), fosters high level teaching
and research in computer science and aims to meet the
growing regional demand for persons skilled in various
as p ects
of
computing. The
core curriculum
in computer
science covers
all aspects of
computing,
with the faculty
particularly
active in artificial intelligence, software engineering, networking and information systems. The program also endeavors to
enhance teaching and research activities in computer
architectures, object orientation, neural networks, multimedia
and other rapidly-evolving areas in computer science. AIT also
offers degree in computer science with specialization in
software engineering. The Software Engineering Area of
Specialization is specially designed to fill the Asia-Pacific
region's needs for highly - trained specialists in software
development and the management of software development
projects.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Global

Positioning System (GPS) provides extremely useful tools for
environmental and natural resources management. They are
widely recognized as supporting tools for the planning,
monitoring, and management of the appropriate utilization of
resources at the country, regional and global levels. RSGIS
welcomes students from other schools who are interested
in attending some subjects that demonstrate the interdisciplinary nature of the applications of geoinformatics or
space technologies.

UNIFIED INTERNATIONAL BACHELOR-MASTER
DEGREE
MECHATRONICS (ME), most academic institutions and
industries in the Asian region are only system integrators.
Components are procured from more developed countries
(e.g. computer numerically controlled machines, robots, and
automated guided vehicles) and are integrated as a system
(e.g. flexible manufacturing system). Mechatronics provides
new insights through an integrated consideration of mechanics, electronics and information technology. The curriculum is
designed to provide multidisciplinary knowledge and to
develop the ability to design mechatronics systems.

NANOTECHNOLOGY (NT), masters courses are a

well-recognized means of gaining experience in stateof-the-art techniques and applications. AIT program is
addressed to the needs of engineers and science background
students for entering into this burgeoning technology area.
Nanotechnology with a focus on nanomaterials engineering
at AIT provides international level engineering program.
Candidates with a background in engineering (electrical,
chemical, mechanical, industrial, telecommunications, computer
engineering, electronics, and instrumentation) or background
in Science (physics and chemistry) are eligible to apply.

INDUSTRIAL AND MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING
(IME), since its inception in the early 1970's, the Industrial

and Manufacturing Engineering program at AIT has committed
to prepare qualified engineers with high-tech knowledge for
supporting sustainable industrial development of the region.
Starting as Systems Engineering in the early days and
becoming Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering today, our
focus has always been on responding to current needs and
future trends for industry to be competitive. Candidates with
background with a degree in mechanical, production, industrial,
electrical, electronics, or chemical engineering; other engineering fields; other applied sciences are eligible to apply.

MICROELECTRONICS AND EMBEDDED SYSTEMS
(MES), the region's growing industrial sector and the

increasing demand for high technologies have brought the
need for expertise in microelectronics to a critical level. The
Program in Microelectronics, responds to the needs of
countries in Southeast Asia, many of which are in transition
from labor-intensive to high-tech industries. The curriculum
focuses on design and IC packaging aspects for specific
applications. Fabrication, including prototyping of chips, is
included in the curriculum and is featured in partnership with
microelectronics industries and collaborating universities
overseas.

1. The minimum GPA requirement for admission to the
doctoral program is 3.50 or equivalent at the Master's
degree level.
2. The minimum GPA requirement for admission to the
Master's program is 2.75 or equivalent at the Bachelor
degree level.
3. For doctoral program, applicant must have strong
academic records (both undergraduate and graduate) and
normally hold a four-year bachelor's degree, and a
Master's degree, preferably with a combination of course
and thesis work.
4. For Master’s program, applicant must hold a Bachelor
degree (normally from a four-year program), or its
equivalent, in an appropriate field of study from an
institution of good standing acceptable to AIT.
