1st TRIPTOLEMOS S.C. SITTING VOLLEYBALL BEACH VOLLEY TOURNAMENT 17 – 18 September 2011 at Agios Nikolaos/Crete Island/Hellas  Triptolemos S.C. The Triptolemos Sports Club is a Non Profit Organization, established in 1998 exclusively in the field of sport for people with disabilities. The supported sports until now are: Boccia (for athletes with quadriplegia), Weight lifting, Sitting Volleyball, Shooting. All the athletes involved have severe physical disabilities such as amputations upper or lower extremities. The Triptolemos headquarter is located at Mandra of Attica, 25Km northwest of Athens and 3Km north of the ancient town of Eleusis. http://www.triptolemos.org.gr Agios Nikolaos Aghios Nikolaos, with over forty years of experience in the tourism industry, is an international and cosmopolitan resort that welcomes thousands of visitors annually. The lake is its most charming feature. Legend suggests that Athena and Armetis bathed in its waters. This lake is connected to the sea by a straight channel, while its natural surroundings of red rock and trees attract the visitor magnetically. At a small open-air theatre by the lake, locals and visitors alike can enjoy interesting artistic and cultural presentations. A walk around the shops of Aghios Nikolaos is an enjoyable experience. In the many stores the visitor can find a wide selection of traditional Cretan artwork, copies of pieces from different archaeological museums, jewellery, and embroidery.  There are also many examples of woven goods and Byzantine icons. There are bustling cafeterias, charming coffeehouses and taverns serving traditional Cretan “mesedes” or tidbits of local food and local wine or strong raki. Welcome Triptolemos S.C. is going to organize the 1st Sitting Beach Volleyball Tournament at Agios Nikolaos city in Crete Inland in Hellas 17 & 18 September 2011. The schedule of Tournament on Saturday 17th September is from 09:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 17:00 pm to 21:00. On Sunday 18th September the schedule is from 09:30 am to 15:00 pm. Entry Form Please send entry form (attached) by 20.08.2011. In the Tournament there can be only 12 teams and are played women and men series. The participation in the Tournament confirms in order of entry. The entry fee is 35,00 €/team.  Classification and rules The Tournament is open for everyone - there is no remedial classification. At Saturday there are 3-4 matches for each team and at Sunday 2-3 matches. The rules are adapted to the valid rules of Sitting Volleyball. The wide of a half field is 4,00 m and length 4,00 m (13,3 feet). The net height is 1,15 m. Colored Beach Volleyballs are used. Players - There are 3-4 players in a team. Grading of players is not demanded. - One (1) player in the front line and two (2) players in the back court (and one player can be substitute). Referees and special rules The referee will be a Beach Volleyball Referee, (at least to the highest national level) and will lead the game exactly according to the FIVB rules: • The service reception and the defence/reception of soft driven balls like drives/shots must be executed with underhand pass or with tomahawk or poke shot or supporting techniques like one hand reception/defence • Only the hard driven balls can be defended with the overhand pass/beach dig During the action of players setting overhand with fingers, the ball must be played with one quick motion. There must not be any significant movement of the ball downwards whilst in the hands and the ball may not visibly come to rest in the player's hands. The emphasis with the double contact is that this is not indicated by the spin of the ball but by the fact that a clear fault - time difference between the two hands that contact the ball - has occurred and that this is visible for the Referee • The only exception is the block against the service that is allowed by WOVD in Sitting Volleyball. •  1st TRIPTOLEMOS S.C.
