PRESIDENT REPORT: - Nick Pearce Presidents Report It‟s that time again with the preso night not far away. The season has finally ended and a new one just started. I would like to congratulate all the trophy winners for the 2010/2011 season WELL DONE. The presentation dinner will be held at the Nowra Golf Club all members are invited to attend a great evening. It was not a good year for us with our two comps. With the light tackle being cancelled due to bad weather and the numbers being down in the open with bad weather forecast but still a few fish tagged and a couple captured on the last day. Thank you to all our club sponsors we would not have been able to have these prizes at our comps without you please support our sponsors THANK YOU. I would like to thank all the committee for their help this year it‟s been great to have you all there. I will be stepping down as president and would like to thank my family for all there help and understanding with me being on the committee, president. As there is a lot involved and it‟s hard to juggle a young family and fishing at the same time. There are some committee spots open up with my-self and a couple others standing down this year leaving spots open for some new members to come and join the new committee and take our club into the future. The fishing over the last year has been quiet compared to the last few, I have heard that the Bluefin have turned up down the coast so make sure you renew the club membership before you head out to catch a fish of a life time. On a sadder note I would like send our condolences to our club patron Ed Welsh on the passing of his wife Lesley Welsh she will be dearly missed. Just a reminder to send your capture and tag certificates in within fourteen days so they count for your boat and for the club in southern zone. SECRETARY REPORT: - Veronica Hardy We have come to the end of another year – a tear filled with sadness and disappointment. The sadness comes with the passing of Mrs. Lesley Welsh and Mr. Graham Panney The disappointment lies in another area entirely. At the start of the year the club was struggling to raise a committee, however, the Life Members and other older members of the club raised their hands and filled the positions. Throughout the year we have heard that the club should be doing this or doing that but we find that when events are organized, Extraordinary Meetings arranged or even our own competitions are run it is the same people that fail to attend and support their club. At one stage during the year at a committee meeting there was much discussion about winding the club up. The same senior members have indicated that they will not be standing for committee positions for the coming year so perhaps it is time for some of you younger and more enthusiastic members to come forward to take their place and put the Shoalhaven Game Fishing Club back in its rightful position in the Game Fishing world. On a brighter note, we are happy to report that the club has been restructured (with the help of Mr. Peter Van Ovost) and that the club is no longer bound by the rigid Company laws and Auditing procedures of the past. This will not only save the club money but make the club easier legally to run. I would like to thank Darren Tickner for his work in the past and this year and hope that he will consider coming back on the committee in the future. Daren has much to offer the club. In closing I would like to say that I will not be standing for committee next year and that I wish the club all the best for the future. Verinica Hardy – Secretary & Life Member Annual Report 2010-2011 Page 5  Shoalhaven Game fishing Club Ltd. RECORDER REPORT: - Wal Aulsebrook Another fishing season has been completed 31-5-11. Not a lot of captures were recorded. The crew of “Double D” recorded the highest number of fish weighed, mainly on light tackle. One very notable capture was a Striped Marlin 76Kg on 8Kg to Rebecca Finney as a Junior Angler. Well done to Rebecca and the crew of “Outcast”. Josh Hunt weighed the heaviest Marlin of the year a Blue of 170Kg on 24Kg. Gavin Kershaw broke a very long standing club record with a Whaler Shark 118Kg/10Kg. Only 3 Tuna were captured (2 Bluefin and 1 Yellowfin) not like years gone by. The Tag and Release section also was not as good as previous years the boat with the most number of marlin tagged was “Dadsboat” with 11 Fish. “Double D” scored well in this section tagging a number of Sharks mostly on light lines. Boats that tagged a number of Marlin were “Catch” with 5. “RnR” with 3. “Enforcer” with 3. “Outcast “with 2. “Highlander” “Magic” and “Double D” who also tagged fish. “Serial Pest” and “Dadsboat” Tagged the only 4 Yellowfin Tuna by our club this season. A new Tag and Release Annual Trophy has been donated by the Murphy Family and will be for the Boat scoring the most points for Billfish. Wal Aulsebrook. It was a weekend that Joshua Hay from Batemans Bay will never forget as he won the Haines Hunter 520 Prowler, Honda 90hp motor, Trailer and GME Electrics. As if this was not enough he also won the heaviest Yellowfin for the tournament and most Striped Tuna by a junior and went home with a table load of products. He was naturally over the moon and it could not have gone to a nicer or more appreciative young man. This tournament was a great example of SZ clubs helping each other out. Robert Edwards (Eden) undertook the arduous job of scoring and Gail McMahon (Batemans Bay) worked on the weigh station and just about everywhere else. I know Canberra are very grateful for their assistance. Annual Report 2010-2011 Page 19  Shoalhaven Game fishing Club Ltd. The heaviest Yellowfin taken was 26.6kg so they were not all that large and a 112.2 kg Striped Marlin was also captured. This Marlin also speared an angler on board Tri-Kat and they had to come in and be attended by ambulance officers. There has already been an outcry about the photos that were sent to all and sundry on the 489kg Tiger that was captured during this event. NSWGFA has very strict guidelines regarding publicity and this was a most inappropriate move by members of the crew who caught it. It is really unfortunate that people choose to ignore this media policy and puts us all in a bad light. There are already moves within government to ban the capture of sharks and this sort of thing certainly does not help our cause Unfortunately Merimbula only had 18 boats registered for their tournament. It was however enjoyed by all and as usual a great job was done by the Merimbula guys. Not a lot of fish either but “that‟s fishing”. There was quite a bit if talk about the bar being closed prior to the event and although they made alternative arrangements it may have been a factor in the low numbers, so who knows! Gail is still trying to get a conformed date for our AGM and I will inform your club secretaries as soon as we have it settled. Stay safe and enjoy your fishing. At least this time it was not my fault. There was a bit of a brain freeze up north and a technical hitch down south. I do not think it fair that I judge others by their mistakes and felt it was reasonable to rectify these problems and I am only too glad to see that I am not the only one who makes boo boos.
