SAMH SERVICE REVIEW Parents’ Support Group (PSG) At the PSG, bold initiatives to lead and encourage parents and families to bond with their child or family member with autism in 2013 included equipping and supporting 33 students/clients and their family members to travel to Phuket, Thailand via air travel. In addition, SAAC organised the PSG Siblings Camp for the third year running, attended by 20 children between eight to 14 years old, with a sibling diagnosed with autism. SAAC also organised the inaugural Siblings Connect, attended by 16 youths and young adults with siblings with autism, providing them with strategies to communicate more effectively with their siblings. A family trip for 52 students and adult clients from the lower income group, as well as a year-end family gathering for all PSG members was also organised during the year. ST. ANDREW’S COMMUNITY HOSPITAL (SACH) In 2013, SACH continued to expand its range of services (such as the new Dementia Ward, new Sub-acute Ward and expanded Home Care Programme) in response to the needs of the ageing community. SACH also planned for the development of new services through The Integrated Building, which is scheduled to be ready at the end of 2014. Workload Statistics 8 SACH’s inpatient rehabilitation and sub-acute care are currently being provided through 172 beds across 6 wards. The average bed occupancy for operational beds was 92% (an increase of 11% compared to 2012 – Fig. 1), and there were 1,554 admissions (an increase of 15% compared to 2012 – Fig. 2). Day Rehabilitation Centre attendances increased to 13,551 (an increase of 28% compared to 2012 – Fig. 3), and Outpatient Clinic attendances numbered 4,309 (an increase of 47% compared to 2012 – Fig. 4). There were also 4,102 Home Care visits (an increase of 136% compared to 2012 – Fig. 5).
