Small Finds Report By D.M.Irving 27/5/2015 Greyabbey Bay, Mid Island/Ballyurnanellan Description Found at the low water line Southwest of Mid Island, the area is a mixture of gravel and rocks over clay above the tide line with layered silts over clay and gravel at and below the tide line. There are several patches of ‘stubble’ presumably from the Mesolithic peat layer showing through. The first find spotted was the .50 calibre shell casing which was sitting on the surface, it was when I was placing the ruler that I spotted the second object which I believe to be a stone tool, a subsequent search turned up some more possible tools and a flint core. The possible tools are made of a variety of stone types, the last one is the only flint tool which is a small squared section. Finds photographed on a 1cm grid. The first two finds in situ.
