Attention all Residents of Mead The property owner of Range View Estates is attempting to rezone this land from RSF-1 (approximately 1 house per acre) to RSF-4 (approximately 4 houses per acre). This would move the number of houses allowed on this property from roughly 72 currently, to as many as 458. That’s a lot when you consider Mead currently has 1500 homes. That’s this piece of property, NW of the corner of Adams Ave (CR32) and 3rd St (CR7), shown below left, bordered in red. You can learn more about the details by visiting this website: www.meadbusiness.com At the town hall on 13 Oct 2015, a prospective developer, along with the property owner held an informational meeting. At this meeting, the property owner indicated he plans to sell, cash out and move on. That leaves all of us, the current residents of Mead, to live with the consequences. If you stand against this rezoning, please come to the planning meeting, Wednesday 21 Oct, and especially the meeting on Monday 26 Oct 15, where the Trustees will vote on this issue. Both meetings start at 7PM at the Mead Town Hall, 441 3rd Street, Mead, CO. Let the Trustees know what you think!! At the 13th October meeting, the developer said that the smallest house that could be built in the proposed RSF-4 development would be a 1000 square foot, single story home. Seems odd that a development called Range View Estates would include 1000 square foot homes. Some of the concerns expressed already by residents attending the meeting on the 13th of October: ! Overcrowding in schools ! Reduced property values for the current residents ! Increased safety hazards that accompany significant increases in traffic ! Increase in noise and congestion ! Nighttime light pollution ! Stress on utilities ! We already compromised in 2008 when it was rezoned from Agricultural to RSF-1 – why make further compromise? Since the meeting, other residents have expressed additional concerns: ! Additional bonds and tax increases to pay for more schools and infrastructure ! Increase in crime ! Widening of Road 7 and other traffic related-projects ! Loss of rural lifestyle that attracted us to Mead in the first place
