Help me get to Hong Kong!
At the beginning of my college semester my heart was awakened to our Father’s heart for the world,
where I quickly signed-up with ELIC to answer that call. ELIC stands for English Language Institute of
China. Their goal is to spread eternal hope to China and the surrounding area while teaching
conversational English to students of the orient. Under the image of mere teachers, we create
relationships with our students, where then those relationships lead to chances to spread the victory of
our Father and His greatness to those who’ve never experience it before.
Our trip will take us to Hong Kong, in which I’ll be one of several teachers under a group leader.
We’ll be in Hong Kong for four weeks and then we’ll spend an additional week seeing more of ELIC’s
efforts in places like Cambodia. It’ll be a trip to soften the soul and learn to see the world as our Father
sees it, our hearts beating in rhythm with His.
The problem with big goals such as these is that it costs a small fortune to make it all happen. An
airplane ticket would cost thousands alone! ELIC has laid out that my full funding for my trip from the
United Stated to Hong Kong for a month, and then for a week in Cambodia, would cost me $4,500.
While it’s a massive amount at first, if broken down into chunks it becomes readily affordable. If
I had 45 days to gather the funds then I would need to make merely a $100 a day. If I had 90 days, then
it would only be $50. I have until mid-Summer to gather these funds.
This investment goes beyond just cheap food and expensive plane tickets. Where I go I
represent you, the church. I’ll represent the Son of God where his light has never shined before. Lives
will be touched for the better; relationships will be made and bridges will be put into construction.
When the relationships created by this trip last for a lifetime $4500 isn’t so much.
If you’d like to help donate, head to ELIC, click at the top bar “GIVE” >> New Donor, then choose
“Existing Teachers.” From there you can enter my last name: Clanton, and then you’ll be able to choose
how much you’d like to give. I don’t have to receive everything in one day, and we have until May 1st to
make %75 of the required funds.
Thank you so very much and I hope to return from Hong Kong with many photos, videos, and
new friends.
