A FRESH
START
The first few months of
the year always get us
into the spirit of a refresh
and what we can do on
Brindleyplace to make
it even better!
Our “refresh” starts with this new
format – a combination of our
annual Guide and quarterly
magazine which will reflect what
we’ve been up to and what we’re
planning next!
Reflecting on 2016 is a healthy place to
start; we saw two fantastic new restaurants
open, CAU and Zizzi, major event successes
with Chocival (Birmingham’s first chocolate
festival!) and recorded the highest number
of people to ever visit Brindleyplace in a
single day!
We were also very proud of our fundraising
total of £70,374.
This year, there’s the opening of York’s
Bakery Café at Ikon Gallery, as well as
live music, markets and The Big Sleuth trail
(thebigsleuth.co.uk) this summer. We’ll also
be giving back to the community even
more in 2017 with four Birmingham based
charities working with us on our major events
programme throughout the year – adding
some exciting new ones along the way!
Make sure you get the dates in your diary
now – not only are our events free to attend,
by working in collaboration with our fantastic
charity partners they’ll be even bigger and
better in 2017!

LEISURE

As well as a health
club, lots of restaurants,
bars and shops, we’re

experience for kids, the National
SEA LIFE Centre has the UK’s only

CHARITY
UPDATE

This year, all the funds
raised at Brindleyplace
in 2017 will go towards
four brilliant Birmingham
charities, all of which do
a great deal to support
local people and causes.
Our annual Dragonboat Race,
sponsored by Deutsche Bank,
has a record breaking £100k
target to raise vital funds for Cure
Leukaemia in June while NICE,
Centre for Movement Disorders is
our Outdoor Film Festival partner.
Adding some sugar and spice,
Birmingham St. Mary’s Hospice is
working with the newest addition
to our event calendar, Chocival,
and this year’s Chilli Festival will
support Birmingham Children’s
Hospital!
Check out our website for other
charity partner events too.

BUSINESS

“I’ve been privileged to spend my
twenties and half of my thirties working
in the best business location in the city.
Brindleyplace is the business centre of
Birmingham, and has everything you

clients at Piccolino, or after work
drinks with the team in Pitcher & Piano,

Adam Golder, Account Director, Free Radio

“There are so many pluses to working
at Brindleyplace. Beautifully maintained

feels like the beating heart of the city”.
Tamar Egan, Executive Secretary,

“I love working in Brindleyplace
because there is wide choice of places
to meet people for a bite to eat or a

2017
IS BIGGER
IN BRUM
While there’s often
something going on at
Brindleyplace itself, our
links with the wider city
mean that our cafés,
bars and eateries are
always buzzing.

This spring, our neighbours at the Barclaycard
Arena are hosting major entertainment, music
and sporting events including the Müller Indoor
Grand Prix Athletics as well as Drake, Jack
Whitehall, The Who and Bruno Mars! Get your
tickets at barclaycardarena.co.uk and while
you’re at it book a table at one of our restaurants
for pre-show lunch or dinner to make a day or
night of it!
Back for 2017, Birmingham Jazz Festival will
be hosting a series of (mostly) free performances
across the city from 14-23 July, and who can
resist al-fresco jazz by the canal? Keep an eye
on our website for more information on the
performances at Brindleyplace so you don’t
miss out.
Going on a bear hunt? You might find a few
here when the Big Sleuth trail starts this summer –
watch this space!
