Content policy

PDF Archive keeps your documents without reading them and without sorting them. No document is examined before it goes online, and its presence here amounts to neither a check nor an approval: its content is the responsibility of whoever uploaded it. Three limits, and they come from the law.

01You must have the right to distribute what you share

A public link makes a document reachable by anyone. Distributing somebody else's work that way without their permission is prohibited, whatever the format. If you are not sure you hold that right, keep the document private.

02Uploading in bulk for search ranking ends in suspension

Uploading documents in series to occupy search results is not the intended use, and it ends in a suspension for excessive load or for circumventing quotas.

Your invoices, your reports and your exports are produced by software, and they are welcome. What causes a problem is the volume and the intent.

03Some content is removed as soon as it is reported

Uploaded documents are not inspected. It is a report, or a request from an authority, that triggers an examination.

Glorification of terrorism, incitement to racial hatred, discrimination and child sexual abuse material are removed once PDF Archive is made aware of them, and the account is closed where the abuse is serious.

04You have found a document that should not be here

Report it through the contact form, with the subject "Report of unlawful content". Give the exact address of the document, what you object to, and how to reach you.

Reporting in bad faith content that you know to be lawful is punishable by one year of imprisonment and a fine of 15,000 euros (article 6-I-4 of the French law of 21 June 2004).

05Your document was removed, or your account suspended

You are told in writing which document is affected and why it was removed. You may answer and challenge the decision. A removal decided wrongly is reversed, and the document is put back online.

Two things are needed for a document to be removed: it has to be unlawful, and somebody has to have reported it.
