What people ask us
Can I sell my book from PDF Archive?
No. There is no payment, no basket and no order handling. What happens here is distribution: a reading extract, a digital version given with the printed copy, an out of print book made available again, an offprint for the press. Selling needs a till, and this service is not one.
Do you provide an ISBN or handle legal deposit?
No, neither. An ISBN is obtained from the book numbering agency, and legal deposit is done with the national library. What PDF Archive does is keep the certificate and the number in the same folder as the book they concern, with their dates.
Is my file recompressed or modified?
No. The document your readers download is the one you uploaded, byte for byte. Embedded fonts, layout, images at full resolution: nothing is re-encoded on the way through, which matters when the typesetting is the work.
How long does the link stay open?
A free account leaves a public share open for up to seven days. A paid tier has no deadline: the link lives for as long as you leave it open, and the chosen address and the permanent QR code are part of it. The detail is on the pricing page.
Does this prove that I wrote this text first?
It establishes a dated trace. Proof in the legal sense calls for an approved trusted third party. Every uploaded document is dated on arrival, and every public share is a frozen copy, separate from your original. Useful for a manuscript circulating before publication, provided you know what it is worth: the evidential value of a dated PDF.
Do my readers have to create an account?
No. They open the link, read it in their browser, and download it if they want to. Nothing to install, nothing to create, no address to leave. If you would rather keep the circle small, the link takes a password and an end date.
