What the tool actually does
A capture is a rendering of the page
What you get is what a browser drew at that moment: one long page, laid out for paper. Menus that open on click, content that loads when you scroll far enough, anything that needs an interaction, is not in it. Check the result rather than assume.
Pages behind a sign-in cannot be captured
The capture arrives as an anonymous visitor with no account and no session. A page that needs you to be logged in shows the sign-in screen, and that is what ends up in the PDF. Nothing on a private network is reachable either, by design.
The date is the whole point, so mind where it comes from
A capture proves what a page showed only if the date attached to it is credible. A file on your own disk carries a date you can change. Archiving the capture in an account is what gives it a date that was not written by you.
Before you upload anything
Can it capture a page that needs a login?
No. The capture arrives with no account and no session, so it sees what an anonymous visitor sees.
Why is part of the page missing?
Anything that appears only after a click, or that loads as you scroll, is not there. The capture is one rendering, taken at one moment.
Which format should I pick?
A4 portrait for an article. Landscape or A3 when the layout is wide and gets cut.
Should I accept or refuse the cookie banner?
Refuse by default. Some pages show nothing until it is accepted, and that is when to switch.
Does the PDF carry the date?
The file is produced on the day you ask for it. For a date that carries weight with someone else, archive it in an account.
Is the tool free?
Yes, with no sign-up and nothing to install.
Is the PDF kept?
No. It is deleted once the job is done.
