Three situations it was made for
A quote or an order form to return
A supplier asks for a signed copy. Printing, signing and scanning turns a clean file into a crooked photograph of itself, and adds a trip to a scanner.
A document sent to several people at once
Minutes, a policy, an internal note. The stamp says who issued the document and when, on the copy everyone receives.
A file whose integrity has to be checkable later
The fingerprint is what makes that possible. Recompute it in six months with the checksum tool: the same value means the file is byte for byte the one that was signed.
What the tool actually does
What the stamp holds
The name you type, the place if you gave one, and the date the file was processed, drawn at the foot of the page in a block that reads as a signature. It is part of the document from then on: whoever opens the file sees it, on screen and on paper, without any software or plugin.
The fingerprint is the part that proves something
SHA-512 reduces a file to a 128 character value. Change one byte in the document, one letter, one pixel, and the value changes completely. Keeping that value next to the signed file lets anybody check later that the file they hold is the one that was signed, using the checksum tool or any other implementation of the same standard.
Scope: what this signature covers
This is a visible, dated stamp plus a fingerprint. It shows intent and it makes tampering detectable. It carries no certificate, so it does not identify the signatory the way a qualified electronic signature does under the European eIDAS regulation, which requires a certificate issued to a verified person by a trust service provider. For a contract that has to hold up in court on the strength of its signature alone, that is the route to take. For an internal document, a quote, a delivery note or a policy, a visible stamp with a fingerprint is what people actually use.
Signing a file freezes it
Once a document is signed, editing it makes the fingerprint wrong, which is the point. Compress it, rotate it or convert it and you get a different file with a different value. Do the work first, sign last.

What is the SHA-512 for?
It identifies that exact file. Anyone holding the document and the value can recompute it and see whether the file has changed since it was signed.
Where does the date come from?
From the day the file is processed, on servers in France. It is written into the stamp and cannot be chosen.
Can I use my handwritten signature?
Not on this tool, which draws a text stamp. A saved handwritten signature belongs to an account: create a free account and the portal will apply it, positioned where you want it.
Can I sign several documents at once?
One file per job here. Repeat the operation for each document.
Does the stamp cover the text of my document?
It is drawn in the bottom margin. On a page whose text runs to the very edge, the stamp may sit close to the last line.
Is the tool free?
Yes. Signing is free, with no sign up and nothing to install.
Is there a usage limit?
Files are accepted up to 100 MB. After about twenty jobs in a day from the same connection, the tool offers you a free account so you can carry on.
Are my files kept?
No. The file you send and the signed file are deleted automatically once the job is done. Note the fingerprint before you leave the page.
Where are my files processed?
On servers in France. Your data stays in the European Union, under the GDPR.
